The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
Feb. 1st, 2008 | 01:39 pm
Here are some choice quotes from the aforementioned documentary:
Walter Day: I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."
Roy Schildt aka Mr. Awesome: Everything would've fell right into place, but he forgot about one thing: About me convincing Steve Wiebe not to be a chump, talking him out of chumpatizing himself.
Billy Mitchell: No matter what I say, it draws controversy. It's sort of like the abortion issue.
Jillian Wiebe: Work is for people who can't play video games.
Jillian Wiebe: I never knew that the Guinness World Record Book was so... I never knew it was so important.
Steve Wiebe: I guess a lot of people are... yeah, a lot of people read that book.
Jillian Wiebe: [while directly looking at Steve, her father] Some people sort of ruin their lives to be in there.
As you can see, young Jillian Wiebe (she must have been between 10 and 12 years old) possesses quite the biting wit.

God Bless The Humble Coinstar

music: Hard Times Come Again No More - James Taylor
I just turned around $27 in change into an iTunes gift certificate! So far, I've purchased:
- James Taylor singing a Stephen Foster song with the Appalachia Waltz guys
- some tracks from Bjork's Medulla
- Feelin' Good by Michael Buble (I've got some friends/colleages/acquaintances on this one)
- a lovely piece from the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack
- all of Kenny Loggins's Return to Pooh Corner that they have on iTunes
Any other recommendations?

music: Dear Mama - 2pac
I recorded a tune of mine last night, and when I imported the song on my computer, iTunes automatically labelled it as 2pac's "Dear Mama".

Why I Woke Up at 7:30 am This Morning
Jun. 13th, 2006 | 11:50 am
Last night I dreamt that I'd found a collapseable wicker bird cage; it was a tiny thing, but still bought two birds to put in it, a yellow one and a greenish black one. To transport them home, I ended up wrapping them in brown paper towels, stuffing them into these clear plastic envelopes, and then putting them in a blue plastic bag. Obviously this is a horribly cruel way to treat animals, but that didn't occur to me in my dream.
At home I opened the wicker cage, unwrapped the birds, and put them into the cage. All the while my hands were being pecked by these birds because they were really angry, especially the black one. After some struggles, I got the two birds into the cage, only to find that they'd turned into spiders, one yellow and one shiny-green-black. I woke up brushing off my arm as the black one crawled down my wrist.
Creepy. As usual, I wonder what it means...
